CBR III Review #31: Locked Doors by Blake Crouch

CBR III Review #31: Locked Doors by Blake Crouch

Blake Crouch follows up his novel Desert Places with Locked DoorsLocked Doors follows main character Andrew Thomas as he lives on the run after being framed for many many murders by his twin brother.  Luther Kite, his deceased twin's partner, also returns in this novel and he decides to lure Andrew out of hiding.  He does this by killing and abducting anyone left with a connection to Andrew in very public and gruesome ways.  Andrew takes the bait and follow Kite to the outer banks of North Carolina where a long and bloody battle takes place.

I really enjoyed the first novel in this series but Locked Doors felt like a never ending novel.  I'm from North Carolina so the only parts of the novel I really enjoyed is when he was describing the different accents of the North Carolina natives and he was describing the different locations that I have visited many many times.  There is something about reading a novel set in a location you live in that gives you a small thrill, but it wasn't enough to make the novel truly entertaining.  I think Crouch is a talented writer he just shouldn't have tried to write a sequel to a novel that was better left with some unanswered questions.
