CBR III Review #95: The First Victim by JB Lynn

CBR III Review #95: The First Victim by JB Lynn

Emily Wright was kidnapped 15 years ago.  She barely escaped with her life.  Now a family emergency is forcing her back to her hometown.  This is only the second time in a long long time that Emily has returned to the site of her kidnapping.  Unfortunately, for Emily not everyone has forgotten her past. Especially her abductor, who has begun to leave dead bodies around town to get her attention.

The First Victim is not a bad little mystery it just felt fairly stereotypical...and the name of the killer "The Baby doll Strangler" just made me giggle instead of making me feel threatened.

As far as I can tell this is JB Lynn's first novel and for a first attempt it's not bad at all.  It's a solid mystery novel with a strong ending and tons of suspense.  It's just parts of the novel were a little cringe worthy.  The sex scene was uncomfortable to read and the description of the serial killers work was a little ridiculous. But other than a few awkward parts the novel was a quick enjoyable read.
