CBR III Review #137: The Unbecoming of Mara Dyer by Michelle Hodkin

CBR III Review #137: The Unbecoming of Mara Dyer by Michelle Hodkin

Mara wakes up in the hospital.  She is the only survivor of a horrific accident that killed her closet friends. An abandon building collapsed and Mara was the only one rescued.  No one knows why her and her friends were in the building and now neither does Mara.  She also suffers from PSD and her hallucinations are starting to interfere with her life.  She can no longer tell what is real and what is imaginary.

Her parents decide to move Mara out of the state and to whole new school so she can start over but her problems only follow her.  She of course meets a mysterious handsome student who she is immediately enamored with and all the typical supernatural YA romance is set in motion.

I started off really liking this book and where it was heading.  It had a lot of promise for a novel then about 3/4 of the way through the novel the, other shoe drops, and it takes a turn that I wasn't too thrilled with.  Then it ended with a cliffhanger that I'm still not sure how I feel about.  I'm assuming this was done so Michelle Hodkin could write a sequel. I just don't see how this book as the material to warrant more novels.
